Marian Roberts, qualified as a barrister and a social worker, has been in continuous practice as a family mediator since 1982.She specialises in the mediation of high conflict disputes over children often with cross-cultural and relocation components. Her involvement in Hague Convention child abduction mediation cases has been through Reunite as mediation consultant on their mediation pilot, as co-worker and as supervisor.She has been actively involved in the development of the professional regulatory framework for family mediation in England and represents the College of Mediators on the Family Mediation Council and on the Ministry of Justice Steering Group on Family Mediation. She teaches mediation on the graduate law programmes at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). Her publications include the following books on mediation: Access to Agreement:A Consumer Study of Family Mediation ( with Gwynn Davis (1988); Developing the Craft of Mediation:Reflections on Theory and Practice(2007); Mediation in Family Disputes: Principles of Practice(3rd ed.2008); and The A-Z of Mediation (forthcoming).
